The Hot Checks Division serves two main functions: to serve restitution for victims and business of bad checks and to educate the community on how to protect themselves from this crime. As the District Attorney and as a member of this community, Mr. Alaniz is concerned by the negative impact hot checks have upon our local economy.
In an effort to combat this crime, the District Attorney’s Office created the Hot Checks Unit to prosecute hot check writers. It will continue to educate merchants and obtain restitution for victims and business of hot check writers.
If you have received a hot check, contact our Hot Checks Division for assistance at 956.523.4919 or 956.523.4931. We are here to serve you.
